Maybe a fisheye type strech would be better for some as there are many flags that are also based on the full use of the rectangle. The others do look really good but I would personally be unhappy with such a heavily clipped version of the NZ one, could be just me though.

I tried the fish eye, however it didnt look good. I could just redo all the flags as rectangular....depends on what people would want

Actually it was jointly declared by parliament and the admiralty. 'Acceptable' != 'correct' though.

I think that if it included the centre point of the jack and at least parts of all the stars it would give a better sense of the flag itself maybe a slight scale with black margins to fill in the non flag bits at top and bottom would work. Again this is just my personal prefference of it but I do feel that national symbols should warrent a certain level of integrity... eek, someone is going to assign me to a rest home after that statment

with the jack being at the centre point, only 1 star can be seen on either flag...is that acceptable?

I think SYNACK means that the centre of the union flag needs to be in the image (i.e. the rightmost and upper parts would be missing), not centring the whole thing on the union flag!

I didnt mean that, having the union so that the edge is centred, means only 1 star can be seen....is that acceptable?

I may have explained badly, I meant having just a bit more than one half of the jacks horozontal length in view so the bit in the middle of the jack where all the points meet is visible on the circle. A little scaleing on the current one should achive this an allow for the stars to be visible, the far star could be only half visible just so long as it is there to complete the southern cross.

I like the square ones, reminds me of playing on my Spectrum.
Plus I made the Leicestershire one and I like it.

I hope you're going to add in the Buckinghamshire county flag, most counties in England are included but we're forgotten
