    Voice Distortion Software

I get some strange requests from friends / colleagues and today it is is for a free software program that changes / distorts your voice - either in realtime or after recording it.....

Any suggestions as the mighty Google hasn't found what they're looking for yet. All I can find is paid for stuff.

Can you play around with distortion & effects in Audacity? Something at the back of my mind seems to think you can but I don't use it often enough to know for sure.

I'd try Audacity too. Not tried it, as I use Audition that is far from free!

Have a look at this: http://www.analogx.com/contents/down...r/Freeware.htm (better link)

Had a quick play with it when first released and it worked pretty well if I remember correctly.

Is this like going to the doctor and having a "friend who needs help with..."? Which bank are you planning to social?

Lol, nothing so sinister. A friend who works for a small drug awareness charity needs a software program to use on a laptop they use to record interviews. Sometimes they might need to alter the voice to preserve anonymity. They don't have much money so are looking at freeware.

Bear in mind that if you run a voice through a simple distortion one way you can simply run it back through the other way to recover the original voice. You might want to check to see if the voice distortion you are using can be reversed or not before you trust people's anonymity to it.

You can't retrieve the original voice if you don't have it all in the newer version. For example, taking away the higher frequencies.
