    Mine hasn't changed much since this one in 2008, except the taskbar is now twice the height so I can see more running apps at once:

    Can't stand them: I much prefer the smaller icons.

    Of course you can select one icon, hold down Ctrl, and roll the mose wheel to resize all desktop icons.
