18th January 2010, 01:27 PM #1 What mobile?
Ok, i'm due an upgrade at the beginning of Feb. I'm with Voda.
I currently have the Samsung Omnia and hate it. I did upgrade the firmware and what not, so it could be a dodgy phone but i have disliked it from the start.
It's kinda put me off touch screen which is a problem because most phones these days have touch screen.
I'm not completely adverse to having touch screen, i just want peoples opinions before i buy.
Obviously, there is the iPhone, but i would like some other suggestions. Anyone got that Nokia N-something Mini?
I dont really want a huge phone! I also dont care about cameras and MP3 players.

18th January 2010, 01:37 PM #4 Apart from the reference in the original post, I was going to say "The first person to mention the iPhone gets a custard pie in the face". You posted before I could get that out, stevenlong, but you redeemed yourself with the notion that you prefer the Blackberry... a narrow escape.
I've heard good things about the Samsung Tocco...

Go to the vodafone store and try a bunch of phones out ie HTC, iphone etc etc and see what you think as at the end of the day its your cash you earned and its a phone you will have to use ( not any of us ) so you will obviously have to make sure that its a phone you can get on with

18th January 2010, 01:45 PM #8 @stevenlong1985:
I have the blackberry bold 9700 and can really recommend it, with the package I got from Vodaphone it costs me £35 PM and for that I get 600 mins to any network, unlimited txts to any network and unlimited data.
battery life is more or less 2 days when using the full potential i.e. wifi, bluetooth and GPRS but obviously unlike the IPhone you can change the battery so carrying a fully charged spare is not a problem and most apps are free.

18th January 2010, 01:47 PM #9 One of my teenagers has a Samsung Tocco, the other a Samsung Genio. I have tried both and prefer the Tocco.
However, having had a fiddle in several phone stores, I've decided my next phone won't be touch screen... and I can't afford an iPhone anyway... as I prefer a 'real' keypad (but then my kids say I'm too old to cope with new technology!

18th January 2010, 01:54 PM #10 About 3 months ago, I too wanted to move away from touchscreen phones after suffering the LG Cookie for a few months. I wanted a QWERTY so went for a Nokia E71. I'm well chuffed with it and the deal I got.
£30 a month on a 12 month unlimited txt, unlimited internet and 300 mins contract. Built in satnav, push email and an ever growing app store (Ovi).
I think the E72 is now available which wasn't when I upgraded.
My next move will hopefully be into the world of Android, having played around with my mates HTC Hero. However I don't want to be reliant on using a touchscreen and would ideally like a pop-out qwerty. But over the next 9 months I'm sure more and more Android phones will become available.
My advice would be that once you've decided on a phone model or two, phone up and speak to Vodafone. That's what I did, and it's where you'll get the best deal (12 month contracts etc). If not, threaten to leave and they'll soon pull out all stops to keep you on their books.

has a look at that phone yesterday and it is MASSIVE!
i also get to renew on the 31st jan, so ive been wondering into the phone market again, i am feeling the urge for something with unlimited internet, so this is making me go for the google phone, as its whole design is for unlimited internet usage.
For me though i have started to see why there is the hype surrounding the blackberry, but i just dont think i can get used to having an entire qwerty keyboard on my phone, and the buttons are so small, everyone i go for a letter i end up hitting 3 or 4 keys!
As far as i can see nokia and sony erickson are lacking behind blackberry, htc, apple by a mile!
god! take me back to the nokia 3310, hardly any phones to pick from, it was great! just the function to phone and text
