    Hootenany

Just finished watching the Hootenany and at the risk of upsetting all the Al Murray fans - why did he have to be such a muppet? He did the same thing last year! It's not funny saying Hootenany all the time. Okay it was the first few times.

Otherwise great show - Paolo Nutini was amazing as was Florence (of the machine).

    Kasabian's Fire was great

Tom Jones - Green Green Grass was classic.

Shingai Shoniwa of the Noisettes was in good voice.

    Dizee Rascal - great stuff.

Paloma Faith was just clean off.

Rodrigo and Gabriella's guitar playing was great to watch.

I'm not a fan of Boy George - so no comment. Didn't like him in the 80s, don't like him now.

Odd not seeing Adrian Edmondson and wife there. They seem to be there every year.

What did everyone else think of the show?

I agree with most of G's appraisal. However I think Dizee was terrible. It might be clever, but entertaining? Nah.

I didn't see all of it, but from what I did - Kasabian should have played the only decent song of theirs, Swarfiga. The one where they don't sing. Florence was fantastic. Dizee Rascal - awful.

I can see why Dizee can be awful - I don't get it sometimes, but everyone seems to love him. Radio1 love him, Jooles loves him. I like some of his songs.

What is interesting is the bloke from One True Voice - Daniel Pierce singing backing on Dizee's songs (and sang with him on TOTP on NYD) - He also auditioned for XFactor.

The polar bear was clever as well.

    Liked it so far

Think Dizee Rascal worked out ok. Thing is Jools Holland always chooses artists that enjoy themselves.

The thing that make Hootenany works is that it is almost you are looking in on an old style rent party where people are singing, dancing and just enjoying themselves.
