Does anyone know if Mozilla Sunbird needs to be launched to display upcoming appointment alerts, or does it just trigger them from a background process?
I don't want to rely on me firing up Sunbird and then finding I have an appointment that afternoon, I'd rather Sunbird warned me a day in advance (for example) without me actually having to do anything.
Which is it?

I'm pretty sure it needs to be running but you could set it to run at log on and then have it minimized to tray?

OK, thanks. I've just found the same advice somewhere on the Mozilla site, so that confirms it.
