HertsDirect.ORG has issued the following:
Hertfordshire County Council News Releases
I thought this was pretty useful as there was some information in there which I was not aware of. Posting it here for other Edugeekers in Hertfordshire. Also are other councils doing something similar? I ask because I have relatives visiting from Norfolk: Starting their journey tomorrow. They cross several counties on their way here and I was looking for a reliable stream of information to cover the trip for them from start to finish [like the website above giving info about Hertfordshire]
Thanks.

23rd December 2009, 02:46 PM #3 I live on the Beds Herts border, and have certainly been able to tell when I've passed into Herts on my way to work, as I've been able to go over 10mph.

23rd December 2009, 07:13 PM #5 west sussex cc have done so badly this year, i have driven down about 5/6 main roads in my town and none of them have been gritted/sorted let alone any of the minor roads! and the pot holes are really bad, just been out with my sister and we hit one that we couldnt see and its popped the tire
but we have had 5/6 inches and they really have not coped at all. my 18 mile trip to work today down quite major roads all very icy and saw a crash on the A23 (two lanes closed), A24 (whole thing closed in the middle) and two the at A272!! took my nearly 2hrs to drive a 30 min journey!! o well dont need the car again till sunday!!!

That blows my theory that West Kent wasn't gritted because it was Sussex's turn for the gritter. I swear there's only one in the whole of the South East... ah, maybe the gritter was in East Sussex!

29th December 2009, 04:30 PM #9 The advice that Hertfordshire has received has led them to issue this:
Hertfordshire Highways prepare for a cold New Year
The relatives have gone back to Norfolk. Now I have to drive up there for New Year. I could be driving up/driving back in difficult conditions.
