    testing server for home use

Now that i have better control over my rsi i would like to start testing virtuilsation setups. I am looking for cheap 64bit quad core server for home use. Budget is around £300. Any ideas/ deals you are aware of?

I have two weeks off and am hoping to get some asap

For that sort of price range, I'd suggest scouring Ebay for some of the last batch of Xeons and see what comes up. Otherwise nearest I can think of will be the ProLiant ML110 range although I suspect they're only dual core.

Quick look around though, how about this : ML115 - it's an AMD but it's quad core and cheap enough for you to go shopping for the parts to make it up to scratch.

    HP ProLiant ML115 G5 Tower Server - Misco.co.uk

See if CPL can match or better it too
