You've got an office? We dream of that! We work in a rusty tin can in the middle of the road. One hour after sunset we clean the road with our tongues, eat a handful of cold gravel and then work 20 hours at the mill with no pay! When we get home, our dad cuts us up with a dull gensu knife and uses us for cheese fondue. But you tell that to the boss today and she simply doesn’t believe you...
(Sorry, coudn't resist it!!)

So you're definately a member of support staff in a school then :POriginally Posted by Tuxguy
Our Head [female] is always complaining at our untidy room. It's just impossible with all the assorted crap that arrives every day.
paperwork is the biggest problem tho'. that little 'heap' quickly degenerates into a 'festering pile' - and i'm guilty of not sorting it better when it arrives ...but then sometimes you're just too occupied with other things [must be that multi-tasking trait indieGrl! :P]
We keep meaning to put down a lesson a week room tidying on our job list - not even got that far yet tho'!
My office is the old storeroom, it was either use that or the server room... and there's already 1 person in the server room, don't ask why she set up her workstation in there.
This is the first office I've worked in where we've marked on the floor (in duct tape, obviously) where the door swings, so that it still can.
People tend to look at my office in shock and hover in the doorway rather than come in atm. I deny that this is by design, though having sharp rackmountable stuff at shin height does discourage the unwary.
(and yes, the _My_ side option was included to cater for indiegirl )
NB: potential candidates for the job on here please note, it's not always like this, honestly.
@pete, im loving the door swing tape, i should to that with my doors, or perhaps the "walkway" through the office should have it. I do get the OMG how do you work in here, and the do you tidy up ones from SMT frequently, but I say go view the assistant heads office, it looks remarkable like ours, full of paperwork, files etc so its not just us that have busy offices.
I have a line of black and yellow hazard tape on the floor in the doorway to my office. Unless I'm in a particularly good mood, I make the kids stand on the other side of that rather than allowing them to enter  Unfortunately it doesn't work with staff

for added fun, place a large X made of tape just inside your office doorway. Most people will step carefully over it, or (if they have to stand on it) look rather nervous and check the ceiling carefully.
Yeah, the deputy head who's my boss is also untidy, and our head of Maths had (until recently, but will degenerate again soon) a desk with an uniform paperwork level of 2ft from the desk surface.
@pete: Don't you know that I will be doing that as soon as I get my hazard tape back off the thieving science department?
@Ric, why not make some DIY Hazard tape, far more fun
Yeah, surey the art department have the appropriate black and yellow paint you can apply to some duct tape?
Oh, mine tends to be pretty clean, maybe too tidy, people actually comment on it when they visit...lol!
I have cupboards and shelves, apparently according to the students it use to be part of a classroom, that got converted, it does get messy with big orders or if my student techies make a mess!
hmmm, just looked up from laptop and it looks like it needs a bit of a tidy :P
Ours is messy but workable
I cant stand things cluttering the floor so thats one area thats clear
We dont have nearly enough workbench space though so in between all our PC's are various laptops and PC's we are imaging/fixing
Also we only have one cupboard outside of the room. Everything else has to be stored in our office. Roughly 15 foot square for the spares and storage for an 800 computer network. What annoys me most is that we USED to have more but it was taken away because a teacher needed a cupboard
Is pete the bloke that didn't do any work that indiegirl spent all that time complaining about?
Appart from a few piles of PCs my office is pretty tidy. Yay for cupboards.
