I usually go pretty smart as I'm not so smart at work, but this year I am rockin' out the christmas jumper. Cream, Knitted, high neck, complete with jumping reindeer, pine trees and a snowfake pattern.

You work in IT. They'll just be thankful you remembered to get dressed ;-)
Better answer: shoes (polished). shirt & trousers (clean & ironed) has seen me safely through all work christmas do's safely.....
Or, you can find the organiser and ask "is there a dress code?" - I think that's a fair-enough question as you've not been to one of these before.
Have a good evening!

I'm not sure you should go dressed too smartly. After all who wants to ruin a good pair of trousers crawling around on the floor plugging something in lol.

It's our 'do' tonight - and in the staff room this morning I was aghast, listening to some of the teachers talking about what they are going to wear - one of them bought a pair of shoes one size too small because if she didn't buy them she couldn't wear a particular dress!!
This is a meal in a local restaurant with the people you work with ALL day - not a glittering 5-star party in some glitzy venue.
Don't get me wrong, I like getting dressed up but a nice glittery top with a nice pair of velvet trousers or a velvet skirt will be fine!

Going to a 'party/do' with a load of teachers is my idea of a nightmare!

Well how about comedy breasts, a horned hat and a pair of boxers with [fake] butt cheeks showing?
