Hi Guys,
After being here a good few weeks now I've come across alot of old\not used equipment, are there any companies who would take away this equipment for free?

There are lots of local companies, where are you based?

DNA ICT Recycling, did alot for us over the last year and were very very good.
Southwark (East Dulwich)
We give ours to oxfam
Get involved : Recycle with us :: Oxfam GB
They clean all the data and issue a WEEE certificate

<pimp> If there's any SCSI drives or cards in whatever you're junking, give me a thought for my SCSI research work.</pimp>
Otherwise, for people in Wales, there's a company in Port Talbot that recycle completely to component materials free of charge. - Well, it was last time - they have times where they waive their standard charge. (which is somewhat nominal anyway.)
IT Asset Disposal Ltd - IT Asset Disposal Ltd - WEEE Compliant
(before using them, I checked out their status, certificates, etc, which they were happy to send, ie - they're legit and above board)
Chunks
I posted a really good company recently, search through the suppliers forum, I beleive.

Another vote for this lot - very good and FREE!!:
DNA I.T Recycling - Home of Free collections! - Home
They are UK wide and also take other stuff that might be hanging around such as old TVs etc
LCWS in Lancashire collects free of charge. check out their website LCWS - Where IT disposal and recycling do not cost the earth
You probably mean companies, so ignore the rest of this, but....
If you're refering to private people/parents etc it becomes a very tricky situation unless you have a lot of disclaimers covering you as I believe there is some legislation that holds you responsible if the equipment explodes in their face etc and causes injury.....
On a lighter note, we use PRM Green Tech, they have a minimum collection number (about 20+ computers, then as many peripherals/cables/whatever junk you want removed) otherwise they wait until there is another customer local to you that they can put the two collections together to be free.

Gone are the days of hiding it at the bottom of skips!![]()
We used Techlogic after being messed around by DNA IT Recycling during the summer. They agreed a date via email then upon calling at 4pm on the day of collection they claimed no such booking had been made and we were booked for that friday which was no good.
After that they called randomly one day to say that someone would be in the area in around 2 hours, 4 hours later I called back to be told that the van was full already and they'd gone back to base.
I'd avoid them if you can... techlogic sorted it out very quickly and turned up when they said they would.
We used DNA recycling in the summer to get rid of about 100 old computers, old tvs, dead OHP's, lots of old and dead monitors and a load of old laser printers. Great service.
Got a collection booked for just before Christmas (can't move in the office for old equipment at the moment!), but unfortunately there's now a £25 admin fee![]()
