BBC News - Tories attack leaked five-year IT plan as 'unambitious'

I love this quote:
No really? I didn't know that was possibleIt also predicts that by 2020 new software will allow computers to do tasks currently carried out by humans. To me this report is just another NHS take 2. Billions have been invested, yet projects still not completed and workers still re-entering information manually. Hardly a step forward

Considering that when Labour takes on an ICT project, they become too ambitious and end up spending 10's of billions of extra pounds in tax payers money due to poor planning, I'm glad it is unambitious!!!
Why are the conservatives slating that? They also accuse Labour of spending too much... Surely them spending less is a good idea? Wait, that's not how politics works is it?

Politics.... Isn't it a case of
"When you are in power... you remind everyone how bad it was under the old Govt..."
and
"When you are in opposition.... you tell everyone how bad a job the Govt is doing & say you would do it better?"
and
If you have no hope of being in power, you "promise you would do it better than everyone else & save the planet?"

well, it's got all the buzzwords hasn't it...
social networking, clouds, app stores, shared utility service [is that another word for hotdesking, i have no idea]...
interesting stuff, but i'm never convinced by the savings bandied about from such IT strategies.

And how much of the proposed £1.6bn savings was spent on setting up a quango to leak a bunch of buzzwords to aunty?
