A few weeks ago, a pupil went to the office on Monday morning and asked what had happened with our School's Biathlon entry. I was asked because I'm the swimming coach but I explained that the PE Dept. said they were going to do it. So I asked them and the paperwork was in a tray to be dealt with. The entry had to be in by that Friday. So I took the form, got together a squad, got the money sorted and the entry form in on time, despite the postal strike. It was pretty manic.
But...Just got back from a long day at Tudor Grange. Our Y7 Boys won their team event with one swimmer breaking 30s in the 50 Free for the first time and getting the overall highest score (up to Year 12!) We got the highest Y7 girls individual score and the Y6 girls team came 2nd.
So we have Y7 kids going to the Nationals early next year and we have also been invited to take part in a triathlon.
I'm not expecting any big reaction from SLT though, as it doesn't involve kicking or running with a ball!

Well done! It's good to hear youngsters doing well at sports other than football/rugby. I agree, Senior management (and the vast majority of the UK for that matter) are only interested in these sports, it's a shame! This has unfortunately happened in my daughters Primary school also. She won the County cross country championships and never even got a mention in school assembly/. The mixed football team were beaten in a final and had a standing ovation in front of the governors - it's a shame all round, but that's this country I'm afraid.
But well done to you all, congratulations!

Our Y7 rugby team got an ovation for getting beaten 42-8 in a closely fought contest
