Good morning,
was wondering if anyone had an idea about the speed issues we are having
at present some stations are taking 10+ mins to boot then ages to login
apparently this is getting worse and wasn't like this before summer. the only thing to change is that Securus client and print audit 6 client was installed. but this should not affect pre login speeds.
we have a cc3 network of 390 stations (36 of which are network laptops) 4 curriculum servers (i know there is a limit about how many stations per server and we are almost there).
I have un-installed some programs off the worse stations, reinstalled the RMC3I service, checked event logs and found nothing silly.
my guess is that it is because the stations are 4years old ish that they are just suffering the stresses of time. added on this no1 turns the computer off until the auto shut-down time is reached.
any ideas? or going by what i have said would i be right in my assumption that they are just old

All users?
Bloated profiles?
Freshly built machine the same?
What limit? We're on 650 stations across 2 curriculum servers (both over 3 years old) with no issues...
As for the age - we've got older workstations than that, when they slow up, we rebuild them. Try grabbing a couple of random pcs from accross the site and rebuilding them, see if that speeds them up. Tbh - until you reach the login screen it's mostly the PC itself, rather than the server having to do anything.

Been applying system updates to the machines?
No viruses on the systems?
the worse ones are teacher stations so only teachers use them
reset profiles
rebuild one last night still running like a dog
is worth mentioning that they apparently get better as the day goes on???
latest HSP, latest hotfixes, stations were all rebuild over summer, all profiles reset over summer
sorry should have worded better, i know this is only a guideline (and prob a sales tatic) although they dont say the same with cc4.
i mentioned it just to pre-empt
What happens if you build one of the machines as vanilla? And then if that works - what happens when smartcliented?

Also, do you have any Dos BAT Files running as "at login" or "at startup" scripts via AD that may be surplus to requirements? These can slow things significantly if network is heavily utilised at the time the machines are fired up, resulting in the machines taking a while to get and process such scripts.
