Not too sure where to post this so im just dumping it here.
I kinda want to subscribe to the Debian mailing lists but I am a bit of a control freak and like to be well organised. I was subscribed for a while but the ammount of mail was killing me.
What I'd like to do is set up Thunderbird (using IMAP) to automatically put all mails from Debian into a specific folder instead of my inbox. Its not exactly urgent but its just one of those nice things. I only read my mail on this machine so I only need this done once and as I am using AOL (where's my silver stake and holy water) I can't do it inside my aol mailbox.
If there's no way to do this I don't mind too much and ill just set up a 12th email address for debian. lol

29th October 2009, 04:02 PM #2 Ok guys its all good. I found out of you go to message filters you can set emails from a specific address or that contain specific words to a separate folder.
Now why couldn't I find that earlier???

29th October 2009, 04:14 PM #3 Out of curiosity, which list did you get snowed under? debian-devel can be pretty heavy at times, for sure.

29th October 2009, 04:54 PM #4 I was subscribed to Debian-devel, debian-announce, and a couple of others so yeah it got pretty heavy.
At the moment im a beginner in development, Sure ive made themes, skins, splash screens, login themes and I can use vim to make short shell script programs using zenity and Kdialogue but ive never really got further than that so thats why im subscribing to the lists so I can kinda work out how its all done and hopefully do a bit myself.

29th October 2009, 04:58 PM #5 debian-devel can be high traffic (~100 mails a day, sometimes a few hundred). Try debian-devel-announce instead, or subscribe in digest mode.
Other handy lists: debian-mentors (packaging questions and sponsorship), debian-release (making the wheels go round in sid and squeeze), debian-users (non-development queries).
If you're interested in packaging (where most activity is) choose something interesting and useful from Freshmeat, see if you'd use it on a regular basis, and package it.

29th October 2009, 05:10 PM #6 Ok thanks for the tips.
By the way just a general question. My Rep suddenly went down to -38 overnight but my recent rep is blank except for a couple of thankyou's but my rep by the side of my posts appears at 0 and my thankyou's appear at 1. Is that normal or have i messed something up in my account.
