21st October 2009, 08:51 AM #2 Can we please ban any mention of the c word until the start of December. It is without doubt one of the most hateful times of the year.

21st October 2009, 09:05 AM #4 Sorry but Xmas doesn't start until about the 20th December - when I go out and panic buy presents at double what they would have cost if I'd been prepared.
Xmas shouldn't be mentioned until at least after Guy Fawks night.

21st October 2009, 09:08 AM #5 Anyone read John Grisham's book "Skipping Christmas" (or Tim Allens films "Christmas with the Kranks")?
That's me, this year.
Skipping Christmas.
To paraphrase Green Day - "Wake me up when December ends".

Other than having to experience hours of walking slowly through crowded streets and waiting in long queues, going into masses of debt, having to deal with the in-laws and fixing all the kids electronic presents that "went wrong"... what's the issue?

I actually still do it on Christmas Eve most years. Strangely enough, a lot of ideas come to mind of what to purchase for people when under pressure.
