Similar situation here, which is why we've only got ID badges those staff who might not be universally recognised, e.g. cleaners and peripatetic music staff, and the more frequent visitors, e.g. swimming pool maintenance, speech and language therapist etc.

16th October 2009, 11:13 AM #17 If you want a good, valid reason for NEEDING photo's on SIMS or any other database held by HR or similar.
One of the main reasons Students photo's are put on SIMS, is so that during a fire or similar reason for evacuating the building, if a person is missing, a Picture of the person can be given to the emergency services so they can ID who they have found.
This is just as true for Staff as it is for students.
It's also a security thing.

Whilst I can understand this, in the event of a fire would the admin stand by a printer waiting for all the photos to come through? Or is a paper record of the photo's kept for such an event? Does this also mean that all visitors are snapped as they enter the building just in case? No I thought not.
Mine is a small school, everyone knows what everyone else looks like. I've had more complaints and moans since the thing was mentioned than I've ever had before about nearly everything
I'm only the IT tech what would I know about the whys and wherefores? I think we may have loads of absent staff on the day the photographer is due!
Thanks for the thoughts.
