Just had my single status notification and Iíll be losing out.
As I understand it I have 20 school days to appeal. Iím going to ask for a job description and an explanation of how they reached the decision. We are a big school and I have 4 technicians who Iím responsible for.
The whole thing is a mess. How can someone who works in a school a third the size of mine be graded the same? Before anyone says talk to my union, theyíre all a joke too. I mean they agreed to the whole thing. So much for representing their members best interests.

Yeah, its a joke. Have a chat with your HT as they may have some influence and also get the grading info off HR or whoever the contact is.
It's the unions fault we are in this mess in the first place with single status.

Unfortunately Single Status is just a cost cutting excercise. I'd estimate most people are looking to lose money or stay the same. I also went all through this many years ago and I am shocked it's still going on now. It's simply ridiculous.
I never understood why councils simply didn't introduce new scales as and when people moved on or retired. It would of made the whole process much less political and straight forward.

Pointless. We're voluntary aided so our HT decided what was going to happen, and our school business manager ďdoesnít know whatís going to happen nextĒ.

Does anyone have a copy of the job description/template that was used to grade them on single status? HR says that the school should have them. Our School Business Manager drew a blank when I asked for one yesterday and all of our SLT are on a planning retreat for the weekend. The union havenít replied to emails and telephone calls that one of the guys here made before Christmas.
Iím looking for any of the ICT technical ones. I think all of us here are doing more than we should after our re-grading.
