We have just had our prospectus redone and the company tried to sell us a fancy flash based i'd guess page turning thing for the web site. at £300 i told them not to bother i'd find one online. but after a search or two i cant find any free ones. any one any ideas.

we have a joomla website and i have this Bordesley Village Primary School - Latest, when i spoke to the developers for the full app it was not that much £20 - £30 i think.
£300 for what is essentially a naff gimmick? What a rip-off.
Not meaning to be critical but I don't actually like that page turning thing. Would much rather have a link to download the whole PDF. I find doing it this way a pain, and to a non-technical person, may not be immediately obvious what they have to do to turn the page.Originally Posted by JOrdan01070

If you have the pages as jpg/png/swf then FREE Version of Flash Page Flipping will do what you want for nothing.

him make his own power points pft they are done by one of the office staff who after checking server space i have introduced her to the compress images button. no more 300mb powerpoints now!I can just imagine what one of his PowerPoint presentations would look like
My dad use's this one on websites that he creates, its very nice and quite customizable from my user experience of it.

i managed to 'forget' about this feature. but $300 is a lot of money!
I tend to find the accessibility argument makes this kind of question go away quite quickly.

We use this one FlippingBook at £250. One advantage over a free solution is that FlippingBook and perhaps others, can output an exe and the Mac equivalent of the publication. So why would you want to do this? For next year we are looking at distributing the prospectus on memory sticks with the college logo printed on them. Plug it into a PC and the page turning prospectus will magically appear. We'll also put the pdf and a pdf reader on there. It's cheaper than printing and saves several forests. We will still print some of course, but probably only a 1/4 of the total for this year.
