Default If you quit IT...

...what career would you go into instead?

Been thinking about this as I'm not sure IT is gonna be such a great place to be in the future so been wondering what I'd do if not this... maybe something to do with cars but then might be a good idea to do a job I'd hate instead of one that makes your hobbies boring after working with them all day

Interesting, almost did that about 7 years ago when I was looking after my nipper in GOSH - then I got the job where I am now.....[ after redundancy ]

I would like to go into pest control, setup on my own or work for a small firm. Either that or gardening.

I'd like to be a full time musician. Actually, I may be leaving work to look after my son next year. My wife is better paid and has a career whilst I'm just a Technician who'd rather be in a band. Hopefully more time at home will help me to finish the recording project I started 2 years ago and have yet to finish

Thinking of becoming a sparky or plumber.

I got a long sales pitch from a distance learning company which sounded very good and at the end I would have had qualifications coming out of my backside but it was £5k which is a bit rich for my taste even with the 2 years interest free loan.

Ideally something technical behind the scenes in theatre or concerts. Or something working for myself.

I had thought about electronics in the car industry, especially the high performance cars and upgrading the firmware on the engine management systems for cash.

Then I thought about B and Q stacking shelves and how stress-less it seems Hmmmmmm...............................Difficult choice

I wanted to be an Astronomer or Bricklayer when I was growing up, and ended up an Optician who then got into IT. So I guess it would be Astronomer.
