Never seen a 9v battery do this before...

Got home at the weekend from holiday and noticed that the battery cover on one of the PIR sensors was on the floor. Had a closer look and found that this had happened to the battery....never seen anything like it before happening with a 9v.

Maybe you got back just in time to stop a burglary? The battery was obviously the inside man - disabling the security :-)

If the police catch him, I hope they put him in a dry cell.

They'll probably just let him off without charge

Only if they have the capacity. And let's hope he doesn't resist arrest!

They'll probably just give him a caution and send him ohm.

I once had a PP3 battery in my pocket which started to get quite warm. It was shorting out on some coins in my pocket. Not a problem now I work in education.
