Well, there's about 30 different modem standards. Several DSL standards. About 3 Cablemodem standards. Several Radio/WiFi standards. Lots of different cable standards. Then there's wierd things like Broadband over powerlines and mesh networks. If you consider that a lot of these vary from country to country too, that's a really big list.![]()

im sorry for making you look for them its just i have to create a screenshot showing evidence that i can and have used forums and the only thing i could think of at the time i posted a new topic was something in my NVQ which was internet and intranet connections lol...ive took a screenshot of the top 3 posts any so thats that out the way and also thanks for the links as they might help me in some way...cheers...

@20RickY06: IMHO, you should get more marks if you explain the question in full and say where you have looked previously. All a screenshot of this will prove is somebody else typed the search into Google for you.

When searching, the key is to include just the keywords and not the exact thing you are looking for. For example, "types and speeds of internet connections and their uses" won't get as many useful results as "internet connection types".
@ Ric_ What question do you think a Trainee IT Practitioner would ask as to me my question looks raher pointless...and makes me look like someone who cnt even search google...

@20RickY06: Ideally you need a scenario. Take for example the configuring or a new email system. You would need to research different options and find the policies and best practice to use.
To do this you would first Google about to give you some options of software and then you might email or PM a couple of places that use the software for their opinions.
You would also need to Google about and visit sites such as Becta's to find out about the guidelines for giving kids access to email. You wmay need to update your Acceptable Use Policy - example ones could be found on Wikis (such as the EduGeek one).
etc.
Obviously you can't use this example nowYou could apply the process to something else though... Google a bit, contact others by various means, check well known websites and maybe use some wikis. This should show that you can use a variety of means for finding info.
