Want To Get Out Of Your Orange Mobile Contract Early?

Just got a text message from Orange saying are changing their costs of cost of mobile internet browsing & some calls not included in my plan. For example the likes of 0870 numbers and calls made beyond your allowance will rise from 5p to 15p a minute.

Had a quick google and seems the usual places are all over it.

So seeing as I have another 18months left to run, and wanting a nice new phone thought I'd give it a go. 2m 11s later all done and will recieve my PAC code in the post within the next 3-5 days. Well Done Orange.

Thought it might be of use to some other members.

When companies are forced to change contract terms there is nothing they can do other than hope the masses are un-intelligent and don't get out, or just bargain people down.

Good practice. I just wish o2 would slip up, unimpressed that my iPhone 3G is now semi redundant with the iPhone 3GS out, just upsetting when things like that happen. I want the new iPhone!

they'll ask for the phone back, say no, it appears to be a grey area but they're obliged to ask for it.

£5 off a month, free insurance, free blackberry bundle, 200 extra minutes, 50 MMS just so I wouldnt leave orange.

    For my mrs

as above, but instead of the blackberry bundle, she got 80mb internet usage for free.

Looks like its not being applied to my tariff, which isn't really surprising. Already got unlimited internet browsing (so obviously that one wouldn't apply), but I'll have to phone them to check about the call charges.

Nope they can't do that. The the terms and conditions state:

“14.1 your Device is not a part of your Contract - your Device and Accessories are acquired by you outside the terms of your Contract.”
So yes you can end and keep your phone.

Looks like it will be affecting me - for the better.

I only use my mobile, don't have a landline other than for broadband so I have quite a high tariff. The only calls that aren't in my plan are ones to the Tax Office and similar 0845 services, and the minimum charges for these will be dropping.

Of course, I'll still be looking at a way to get my charges reduced or something out of this, but I'm relieved its not going to cost me a fortune if I don't.
