Computer Products Ltd and T.James Telecoms Ltd team up for Charity "Czech Wrecks"
A car destined to die, bought for the price of pocket change. A route with a car-killer reputation. Four days filled with quirky assignments we swore we'd never do in public.
Currency we don't carry. Language we don't speak. A car on its last legs. A roadway with no mercy. A roadtrip with a difference……. recipe for disaster? Nope. It's a Banger Rally.
Computer Products and T James Telecoms are sending their fearless leaders on a whirlwind wreck rally around eastern Europe, starting in Calais on Thursday 28th August, 2009 and finishing in Prague on the 31st August, 2009.
Rally rules state our car can cost no more than £150!!! CzechWrecks visits six countries: France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic....If we make it all the way, that is.
The rally will involve daily missions and tasks which, in addition to completing the stages gives the opportunity to accumulate points. The team with the most points at the final checkpoint in Prague will carry home the CzeckWrecks 2009 crown. There will also be several awards to Teams that deserve it, more news on these awaits, the shortlist at the moment includes Biggest Pile of Rubbish, Longest Team to Hitchhike and Best Bodge!
If you would like to sponsor Joe and Peter in their quest to Prague go to the just giving pages:
Good luck with the rally, it sounds like fun and if you have half as much fun as my boyfriend currently is on his charity rally to Mongolia, you'll come back with many a tale to tell! Don't forget to update blogs along the way (my other half's team are using a text update service to their team's blog.
Some say that he can catch fish with his tongue and that his sweat can be used to clean precious metals... All we know is, he is Joe Aucott and he is doing a crazy rally!
Had an '89 316 right up till november when I traded it in for one of the new 118d. Gave us 2 grand for it which shows how highly thought of they are I reckon, considering mine was rusted to hell from living by the sea.
Reliable car. Cant remember how many miles it had done but it had been all round europe and used to commute to Aberdeen to Glasgow twice a week for 10 years.
Good Luck!
