17th July 2009, 09:59 AM #1 I got a present!
I know this is a bit pathetic, and that some of you get lots and lots of gifts from teachers, staff and students, but....
Apart from a present from my immediate boss at Christmas, I never get anything from staff or SMT as well as no acknowledgement of my contribution to the school - either school.
But...just now the head of Year 4 brought me a lovely hand made card and some chocs from all of Year 4. She was very complimentary about my work here (have been here since Christmas) and I feel quite tearful. Such a small thing, but it make all the difference to me.
I shall go home happy.....

17th July 2009, 10:49 AM #6 I got given a "No, I will not fix your computer" t-shirt by a TA a few weeks ago and a big bar of dairy milk from another TA last week. Funny how the people with the least money are the most forthcoming with presents!

They haven't fully adjusted to teacher mentality yet
TA's are always wonderful, bubbly people, bit carefree and a good laugh, when they aren't TA's any more and amalgamate into the machine, they slowly slip off the scale year after year.
I've been given a few things, mainly chocolates, wine and the such, don't expect it, but its always good, and saying that. I've never given anything back, apart from my Tesco Value Merry Christmas cards I printed and laminated, I did think it was funny.

I got a bottle of rather nice sparkling wine from our new SENCO this year for bailing her out on a regular basis when she first joined.

One of my schools gave me a selection box of the Terry's Chocolate Orange range, me thinks it was left over from Christmas.
My school today have given me a card with a fantastic personal message and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2007 by Banrock Station. 3rd bottle since I started working here.
I don't have the heart to tell them I don't like wine.
But it will be drunk

17th July 2009, 01:03 PM #12 We've been offered to come eat their buffets, which has gone down well
Not too fussed about pressies, could do without the guilt of not getting them anything!
Maybe a glass of wine at 3pm will do the trick

17th July 2009, 01:27 PM #13 Know the feeling Witch - for the first time ever I got a pressie from the ICT Subject leader!!!! She said she couldn't do her job without me - which was very, very nice. Made me feel good anyway as I have got her out of a few fixes. Her card said thank you for my "gentle guidance" - mm not so sure about that one
