And by show of hands who used to get bored and walk right up to the screen and shoot them

The Amiga had a fantastic series of Freeware games disks known as the Assassins collection -
Assassins Games 1 - 200
Some, in fact a lot, of these games where of top notch (at the time) almost commercial quality. They are still available for free legal download (Back to the Roots - Amiga Culture Directory Project) for use in an Amiga emulator.
The breakout clone, Poing (disk 35), was particularly addictive. And, since Duck Hunt reminded me of all this, Zombie Apocalypse (disk 118) was also a lot of gory fun
Day Of The Tentacle (!)
Manic Miner (!)
Discworld (I and II) for PC
Horace Goes Skiing for ZX Spectrum!
nice! I won't mention Leisure Suit Larry as earlier posted but wouldnt Rise of the Triads have been a bit unsuitable? As great a game as it was, it was merely an excuse to marry the biggest possible guns with the most possible gore
JET SET WILLY
NODES OF YESOD
ARC OF YESOD
EVERYONES A WALLY
etc etc etc............
stunk car racer & impossible mission were my fav's!!
SPY VS SPY
NEMISIS THE WARLOCK (Rob Hubbard's amazing score)
GLIDER RIDER (128K spectrum soundtrack by Dave Whittaker)
MONTY ON THE RUN
Twin Kingdom Valley
Chaos which I still play nowadays on Spectrum emulators.
Ah wow... someone revived this thread.
I'm only 21 (last saturday !) and I've played nearly every game listed in this thread.
Games worthy of a mention:
Lords of Midnight
Space Crusade (for the Warhammer fans)
Populous (already mentioned but definately needs a re-mention!) and Populous II.
I'm sure I'll think of some more, that haven't been mentioned, from my childhood when I can remember.
Super-frog for the amiga
