in my pockets
HP Ipaq hw6851 mobile phone pda
5 usb keys - 1 4gb ghost boot, 1 4gb xpboot, 1 1gb drivers and software, 1 16gb for copying images on to pcs 1 2gb blank at mo in case others get full
big bunsh of keys that no longer fit anything but make me look important!
in my bag (Epson projector)
500gb firewire and usb HDD, lots of cables usb firewire and network patch, laptop hard drive in caddy (hard drive not working),firewire card, sound card, bluetooth gps adapter for Ipaq satnav, xp cd and ghost cd, 4 assorted screw drivers, assorted RAM and a bottle on water
in car 1 switch with gbic slot as a spare, and mouldy sandwitches that I haven't had time to eat lol
On my person:
My keys, my SLT (heh) door release swipe, my 4gb and 16gb cruzer, with utilities, portable apache/SQL server onboard, a walking stick if I need it, my Acer Aspire One netbook, and my OPCOM Vauxhall interface unit (quite a few staff have Vx inclusing me, so I keep it to hand), and my iPaq Voice messenger/mobile.
In the car:
Full toolkit, gas soldering iron, lumphammer, WD40, jumpleads..sometimes handy for computers or staff vehicles.
Most of the time I carry with a Hammer, it fixes a multitude of problems
Iphone, Keys, 8gb USB - cant remember the last time i used it though!!
Cable ties are a great idea though
In the car, I have a pickaxe, but that is a different story
Generaly only 2 flash drives (a 64GB one and a 32GB one). I find that my whole world fits on these
Small tool kit if I need to delve into machines or cabs.
My Car keys with School Master Key and 16Gb USB attached.
In the Office, everything else!
8GB stick, 250gb HDD and leatherman tool.
When at school, usually just bunch of keys, radio, multi-tool thing.
However if I'm going out to a specific call, I'll take appropriate things. Occasionally when I go out trouble-shooting in the IT rooms (trying to fix things before they break) the pockets magically expand to fit all sorts - network cables, mice, screwdrivers, compressed air cans, dusters, glass spray, cable ties...
Keys, mobile phone, USB stick and me.
Everything else depends on the job.
I don't carry tools unless I need them. In the office we have all sorts of screwdriver, hockey stick, snips, molegrips, sockets, Cat5 tester, labeler, hammer drill.
We've also got Ultimate Boot disk, HP boot diagnostic and Netbootdisk with ghost for the odd machine that won't Pixie boot.
I don't carry tools needlesly, I'm far too prone to loosing them.
I'm still being reminded about some wire cutters I left in the ceiling of the english block the summer before last (even though I replaced them).
As im going from site to site in London most days, I carry.
Laptop (Dell Latitude D430)
80Gb 2.5 External HDD
On my person,
* Mobile Phone, HTC Diamond with Gmail synced mail, calendar etc. Files with serial number lists, passwords and all the info that I cannot quite remember.
* 4 USB Memory Sticks, 1gb Hirens USB, 2gb Applications (browsers, AV installs/updates, Scripts, all the common stuff I use), 4gb Files and documents synced with laptop.
* Small Gerber Multitool, scissors, small penknife, screwdrivers etc.
* Keys for particular site.
* Laptop, Considered a netbook for space saving but the laptop will run all school software without question.
* Network Cable
* Network Cable tester
* Packet of AA and AAA batteries
* 3.5 & 2.5 HDD to USB connector
* Toolkit - Usual assortment including RJ45 crimp tool and connectors
* 3m Cable access kit
* Variable heat Soldering kit - If I know its required
All images etc are kept on the server at each site. Any replacement kit like HDD's, power adapters etc are also kept at each site. I did try and get a shared budget of a couple of hundred pound for things like cable drums, air dusters etc but they don't like sharing so I end up ordering stuff when required.
