quote from [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Face_of_Boe]Face of Boe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

    Possible origin

In the episode "Last of the Time Lords", the immortal time traveller Captain Jack Harkness expresses concern about how he might look if he lives "for a million years", because although he can't die, he is still aging, albeit slowly. He tells the Doctor and Martha Jones that it's a matter of vanity, because he "used to be a poster boy when [he] was a kid in the Boeshane Peninsula", as "the first one ever to be signed up for the Time Agency," earning him the name "the Face of Boe". This astonishes Martha and the skeptical Doctor.

Writer Russell T Davies, in the episode's commentary, called the implication of this scene "a theory" as to the Face of Boe's origins, prompting Executive Producer Julie Gardner to urge him to "stop back-pedalling" about the two characters being the same. Davies also said that after writing the scene he inserted a line in the ADR recording for "Gridlock" in which the Face of Boe calls the Doctor "old friend".[1]

Gardner also stated outright at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con that the Face of Boe was Jack Harkness. Similarly, Torchwood Declassified for Torchwood Series 2 has John Barrowman, David Tennant, and Russell T Davies explicitly stating that the Face of Boe is Jack Harkness.

Does anyone know when season 5 of Doctor Who starts (on BBC)?

I'm a great fan of the Doctor, but here in the Netherlands only season 3 is aired on the SciFi Channel (just as last year )

It just occured to me with their ability to get kids to stand still and shut-up the 456 would be great for school discipline.

The picture on BBC HD is fantastic. I've never seen Eve Miles looking so sexy and boy is she sexy. Beats Martha Jones (who is also great in HD!!!)

Sorry - got carried away there.

I've never watched Torchwood before but this mini-series is fantastic! Tense, emotional and genuinely scary! It's what the BBC should be about!

    Ianto....dead?

Working for Torchwood does little for your life expectancy (Tosh, Owen...although Owen exceeded his life expectancy)

Only ever watched a couple of episodes of Torchwood before but i'm now hooked.

Only trouble is i'm away in the caravan for the weekend without a telly, how will I survive until Sunday night to watch my recording of tonights episode?

Also we've finally found what school league tables are really for.

The 456 were Hichcockian in their presentation; REAL suspense, no need for (too much) gore. I too, enjoyed it! Happy to pay this month's licence.
