General Chat Thread, Teenager uses an origional Walkman in General; Wow, I'd forgotten how big they were!
BBC NEWS | Magazine | Giving up my iPod for a Walkman...
The Fisher Price wind up record players with the half-inch thick red plastic LP's had the superior sound if you asked me. Infinitely more portable than a Gramophone and required no batteries/electricity.

Don't mock, I still listen to vinyl, it's wonderful
I wasnt it just reminded me on the big breakfast ( quite some years ago ) they had a little red car that underneath had the reading mechanism for vinyl underneath and the electronics and a speaker on the top of the car and the car would drive around the vinyl and at the same time play the vinyl
Weighed approximately 2 tonnes and microscopic screen! My OH used to have to lug one around London when he was training as an accountant. The only benefit was that the trainee who had the Compaq did get to use a taxi for some audits as they were concerned about theft in some parts of London... presumably any muggers were 7 foot 9 and built like power-lifters!

I'm still young (19) and I had a portable tape player, wasn't a sony walkman but it played tapes!
Kept it for ages until I discovered they made CD versions.
I'm suprised I'm in IT, I used to be so slow with Technology
Pah! He's got earbuds! The real experience requires orange foam headphones on a chrome headband. What a fraud.

I've still got one - with the lovely red screen. Still worked last time I turned it on too - but only had DOS!
