Option one - Setanta goees bust

ESPN America goes to a Sky package - and if they have football rights suspect would be renamed just to espn.

Not bad predictions wise, ESPN launches a new sports channel in the UK imaginatively titled ESPN, available to existing sky sports customers for £9 a month, £12 a month for non sky sports paytv viewers. Setanta was available for between £9.99 and £14.99 plus connection fee.

BBC NEWS | Business | ESPN to launch UK sports channel

I'm guessing this is not quite the outcome russ was hoping for.

sky and espn teamed up and instead of bidding against each other for the scottish league, offered a cut price offer which the spl had no option but accept. So now not only do the scottish teams all get less money, the fans have to subscribe to both sky sports and espn to see the spl games.
