    Awareness

If my antivirus app can alert me that my computer is not running the latest whatever, and sends me off to MS Update to get it. Then why can't MS be aware that I do in fact have an anti virus application and stop bleating that I haven't? Despite my ticking the box stating that my current av app will monitor itself, the red alert persists in popping up every now and then. Grrr.

The Security Centre relies on the antivirus application reporting its status correctly to the OS. If the antivirus program isn't reporting it, that's not Microsoft's fault.

That the warning keeps reappearing after you suppress it is their fault, however.
