Cheers for this. My girlfriend had been looking to get out of her three contract for months. It's been nothing but a pain since she signed up - dropped calls, patchy coverage, crap call quality etc so she phoned up last night and now has her PAC to migrate away

The cancellation dept is in meltdown. Every excuse under the sun, will not forward to manager, will not budge, computers are down, phone back in 3 hours when cancellation dept is closed.

I suppose we can see why they aren't wanting people to leave, no company would. Especially as this kind of thread is popping up in loads of different places.

Keep at it though, as you have already found out it's worthwhile in the end.

Yes will try again today, I will also be writing to them to enforce the point of breach of contract.

My wife is trying again, place is in meltdown, constant disconnections, and very tired sounding operators.

Success, £180 cancellation fee waived, finally,

You need to tell them you received a text with a link which you followed and it said this at the bottom

" Finally because of the 3 Like Home change, it’s only fair that we point out your right to end your contract with us, without paying an early cancellation fee. However we very much hope it won’t come to that because we still believe we offer great value rates and great coverage. "

As soon as I mentioned this they backed down without question.

Also bear in mind cultural differences. It seems you will get further if you put a man on the phone. Not saying its right, but the guy I talked to changed is tune as soon I started talking to him.

Also keep trying, we had 20 knock backs before they gave in.

    unsuccessful

i know this thread is a month old, but just incase anyone else is still thinking of trying this, it will no longer work. they have this stupid thing in their small print where you have exactly one month to react to any change in the contract, after which it's hopeless.

i ended up coughing up £120 to end my contract, but i'm just glad to be rid of that company. with o2 now - SO much better - you can tell they care about their customers.

    never going back to three.

Similar here - I signed a 3 contract and they never connected it. Carphone warehouse were part of the problem too.

Took it back after a week and went with O2 instead, got a really good deal too... had to wait a month for my deposit back though.
