    BBC News 24 live

Here's the code I lifted via Safari's inspect element feature on the BBC News live streaming page.

    Code:
    <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/player/emp/2_26_20959_21121_2/widgets/10shell.swf?revision=20959_21121" height="395" width="640" id="embeddedPlayer_10318089" flashvars="embedReferer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fnews%2F&amp;embedPageUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fnews%2F10318089&amp;widgetRevision=20677_21220&amp;legacyPlayerRevision=20573_21118&amp;config_settings_language=default&amp;config_settings_skin=silver&amp;config=http%3A%2F%2Fnewsimg.bbc.co.uk%2Fplayer%2Femp%2Fconfig%2Fdefault.xml%3F2_26_20959_21121_2_20100816104246&amp;domId=emp-10318089-224308&amp;playlist=http%3A%2F%2Fplaylists.bbc.co.uk%2Fnews%2F10318089A%2Fplaylist.sxml&amp;size=Full&amp;holdingImage=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.bbcimg.co.uk%2Fmedia%2Fimages%2F48351000%2Fgif%2F_48351569_640x360-news.gif&amp;config_settings_autoPlay=true&amp;config_settings_showPopoutButton=true&amp;config_plugin_fmtjLiveStats_pageType=eav1&amp;config_plugin_fmtjLiveStats_edition=Domestic&amp;fmtjDocURI=%2Fnews%2F10318089&amp;config_settings_showShareButton=true&amp;config_settings_showUpdatedInFooter=false" quality="high" wmode="default" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always">
Of course using it may break the BBC's T&C. Further, it might even break it further (targeting the content at children under 13 etc): BBC - Embedding Terms and Conditions

It would technically be possible to remove the menu at the bottom by removing key &amp;config_settings... elements in the code above, but I'm not going to paste the code here because I think that'd be dodgy ground as it's changing code that's not mine rather than just pasting in a small part of their code easily viewable in the source of the page.

    Hope that helps!

PS: Don't forget, to view the link above you must have a TV license as you'd be viewing live TV. Playing clips, highlights, headlines, iPlayer videos are not subject to this requirement as it's not live.

Hi everyone! I am currently setting up Xibo on 8 TVS around my school at the moment. Just testing the layouts etc at the moment, I seem to have an issue with PowerPoint, not sure if anyone else has this issue. I have placed the PP on my layout, and I can see it on my TV- the issue is I don't want to see the toolbar at the top of it ( I managed to get rid of the scrollbar ) - could anyone help please?

    Thanks

    Mel

Did you upload as a .ppt or .pps? It should be a .pps.

Install Guide NET Client - Xibo

It sounds like either you might have PowerPoint viewer installed (which isn't supported - it must be a full version of PowerPoint at the moment) or maybe missed some steps from either the client configuration or preparing the PowerPoint file for upload. Those links have full details on both.

I managed to get rid of the scrollbar without any issues, it was just the toolbar that stayed above the ppt. I was just testing it on a spare machine in my office (which has been clogged with loads of rubbish!). I've just tested it on one of the machines that will be used properly and its working absolutely fine, as it was a clean image prepared this week- with only office etc on.
    Many thanks for the replies.

    Hi,
We are currently using Magic Info i on 25 Samsung screens site wide. They look great BUT boy oh boy is Magic Info a pile of steaming doggy doo doo.
Spoke to North Lindsy College as they in the Dynamax brochure & uses them as a case study. However they are now using Xibo.......
My question is...Is Xibo worth investing lots of time in?
I need to manage users & groups and keep a pretty tight reign on what they can publish visually (I am NOT going to let them loose on load of naff looking PPP's that's for sure) The DS has GOT to look good as well as be able to publish to different zones and departments.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated as we a bit in the dark about this one.

Full disclosure: I'm one of the Xibo Devs.

If you are going to look at Xibo, make sure to use 1.2.0 as it has far better permissions for allowing/disallowing users to publish on various screens or groups of screens.

You could in the most extreeme instance prevent anyone sheduling anything to any screen and then do the scheduling for them once you're happy with what they've done.

I would say so, but it wont take you long to set up and have a play with it to decide for yourself. You can show different information on different screens so it should do everything you need. I'm very impressed with it.

I don't think you can allocate users to just one screen though - it has to be all of them - also you have to trust what they are publishing afaik as there is no process in which it can be authorised before being shown
