Oh great. Jury Service. Brilliant. Not.
'Er indoors has just emailed to say there's a letter at home notifying me of impending jury service.
Flipping 'eck don't they know I'd have them all hanged, drawn and quartered - even if it is just for parking on double-yellows.
Seriously though, has anyone here managed to get out of doing it as it's going to be a complete pita. My mother-in-law spent three months on a complex fraud case listening to people confusing themselves and everybody else, the judge included.

Oh my god, you will have to tell them you are too mentally unstable.......
Will be even funnier if you are the foreman......

Hoping it never happens to me...

You can only defer it once cant you?
What happens if you are out of the country when they call you up though?

I think you're legally obliged to do it aren't you? I know you're employer has a legal responsibility to allow you the time off (not sure if it's paid time off though!)

Your boss can argue that your work will be too interupted (like if you were mid project) the service can be defferred. But I think you can never get out of it 100%

Reckon I've got it sorted - legitimately.
I have a hearing disorder that I think will make me exempt.
Failing that I'll go along on the first day dressed as Wurzel Gummage.

Actually, the idea of being the foreman is quite appealing....

I got out of it as we were about to be doing a major project at the last place I worked. The boss wrote to them explaining this and I was exempted. Never been asked again.

If I'm ever called up I'm going to go dressed as Home Counties Tory lady - there's no way any crim would have me on their jury
