should be easy if your uncle lives there just look at the aussie immigration web site!

    http://www.immi.gov.au/

maybe get yourself a 1 yr whv visa and see if you like living there first

I packed in my job in scotland, up sticks and am over here now with the intention of staying. On a 1yr visa just now, I believe I can extend that by a year when its done, and according to the immi.gov.au I qualify for a Professionals and other Skilled Migrants - Workers - Visas & Immigration (its about £3000 though!). Spent a week in Sydney there, and am in Adeliade just now. Know a couple of people here, still deciding where abouts to look for work. I think I like it enough here so will try to look for a job and a flat soon. Gonna go visit Ayres rock though first before I get a job.

PS. If anyone wants to give me a job, give me a shout

If you can, then go. Life is so short on opportunities you would be silly to pass the really good ones up.

    Good luck.

WHV is a Working Holiday Visa, it's for visiting temporarily and earning while you're there (non-permanent residency, basically). It's probably your best bet, so you want to be here: Visa Options - Working Holiday - Visas & Immigration

A couple I know have just caome back after 3 months. She had a job in recruitment already set up before giong but the pay was halved after arriving, he lost his job and couldn't get another due to the recession. (Australian jobs for Aussies he was told.) They were staying in Melbourne. Check the immigration rules as they have cut the amount of immigration recently. Also they mentioned that other brits who had moved over a while ago and had moved their families were not getting their visas renewed as the government sais that Aussies should be trained for these posts.
Not good news but these are not good times.

Im on a working holiday visa, lets me stay and work for 1 year (only at 6 months at each place)

THe one i posted is a permanent resident visa, but has strict criteria to meet the required 120 points. I only just scrape the 120 point mark. As an IT Professional that is a field which they still need so i should be fine.

Also if you can get a company that will sponsor you, that is another way.

THe thing i figured was it would be easier to sort it all out if I was actually here. So here I am.
