    online backup for personal PC

Looking for a spot of advice...

got a new laptop, and want to get on with some online backup. Going rate for "personal" accounts seems to be ~5 quid for "unlimited" backup space. Looking at the likes of squirrelsave and moxy.

    Anyone using any such thing?

Presenty trialling squirrelsave and finding it pretty torturous.

Virgin Media are shortly going to be offering this to their punters.

I recall the old days of X Drive / I Drive but I'm not up to speed anymore...

Before you upload data i would encrypt the data so you know it will be safe. Maybe its just me being paranoid but i don't trust where my data is going. I encrypt all my external hard drives, pendrives and laptop. barring one pendrive that has a few apps on it.

Most of these services offer encrypted transit and storage - but will check out livedrive. Ta.

JungleDisk - you can use Amazon S3 storage or Rackspace's cloud storage. You pay per Gb but the costs are quite low. I've used it for quite a while now with no problems. You can encrypt your files with your own key.

If you want less space or don't care about the encryption then Live Mesh or Dropbox might be better.

Have a look at Carbonite too. Got a discount code if you're interested.

Have promised memset I will give squirrelsave another go. Hopefully this evening.

Carbonite always looked a bit dubious to me - don't know why. You actually using it? Any good?
