Yes, I saw that last night. How anyone can fail to realise the footpath they're on is not a road is beyond me... I despair for humanity!

durr.. but the satnav said to do it so it must be right. Useful bits of kit with a little common sense. Oh right, I see what we're missing here.

Haven't read the story yet - just the link in your post - but that was soooo funny, I had to check the date twice in case April 1st had come early.

Gives a new meaning to 'being *late* for class'

I cant help feel that the guy who drove to and half off the cliff may have been thinking about compo at the time and may have been a little more aware of what he was doing than uis leading people to believe.

The article says he drives for a living. My theory is that driving is simply a cover story -

Okay, I'm treading on the dangerous grounds of being disrespectful here. Before I go any further I think it best to say that I'm am truely sorry to hear of the parents loss. These comments are meant more to poke fun at the school concerned (no one here I hope). I understand that this is a very real and distressing matter for the parents. One that should never have happened and I offer the parents my deepest sympathies.

That said, on with the story. I shouldn't laugh - but damn the journalist as written some comedy gold here...

"students must have at least 92% attendance and Megan's is currently 60.4%"
If they want her to attend that much I'll take Megan's remains.
Megan doesn't go to that school anymore
but of course we safe the best to last...

A spokesman said Capita software SIMS (School Information Management Systems) maintained Megan's details.
Who'd have thought it would have been a SIMS school?

She's been dead for two months now so it's not surprising her attendance is low
Funny, but soooo wrong. Poor Girl

The software is irrelevant - it is people that print and send out letters.

Yeah, i'm sure her name would ring a bell to the person printing it out.

And the bloke almost driving off the cliff...speechless, sometimes i just wanna give them a slap. It's a SAT NAV!! Something tells me he wasnt even looking where he was going, probably too busy messing with the bloomin machine!

The Sat-Nav story beggers the question - how much trust do you put into technology?
    Take the Honda Accord:

    New Honda Accord drives itself

with 'ADAS' technology - the car drives itself.

Now if the car was following the Sat-Nav, would it have stopped at the cliff's edge?

The story would have been so much better if the plonker had actually driven over the edge. He drives for a living? I wouldn't get in his car.

It's a BMW - so one can only assume the driver was too busy talking on his mobile whilst fiddling his expenses, on top of driving like a pillock.
