arr a fellow Argos monkey yes been there done that along with the shopping trolley to move stuff..

know does anyone remember jasper carrot sketch on Argos that came on TV just as Argos had spent 10000 on image consultant firm who basically came and told them that got stuffy image, that people hate the queues and that uniform needs updating.

What did jasper carrot do tell them all of above and more for prices of a vhs video tape to record the program of the TV.

    Re: Overtime?

If you are tall you can do even more damage (it's all due to the length of levers and so on ... )

Short and stocky with powerful thighs, good control of your lateral abdominals and make sure your deep spinal muscles are nice and strong. ... that's what you are after ...

    Re: Overtime?

I've done a manual handling course, it was videos, 2 group tasks about what you do in your team (note this was a mixed sesion ranging from receptionist - moving packages around etc, to builders who, well move some very heavy things and me ) Surfice to say it wasn't that thrilling, but I got my certificate and I know how to carry my chinese takeaway home better now by lifiting correctly and holding it close to my chest etc.... Still doesn't stop my carring 1 PC under each arm though as time is money etc....

    Re: Overtime?

When a firm delivered 120 PCs on palettes to our school on a lorry with a broken tail lift, I refused to unload (not unreasonably I think) and we had a stand off for a few hours with the lorry driver, but he had boxed in the PE department's car and they were keen to be off down the pub, resulting in them unloading the lorry at a feverish rate! Jobs a good 'un.

    Re: Overtime?

Aint been on a Manual Handling course yet, or Ladder Training.
Our cabs that hold the [LEA] switches are wel above head height and there fore i have to stand on a desk to get to them

I'd use a ladder but have been told i cant unless i go onthe LT course.

But still expected to lug 2 huge speakers from main hall to PE in the other end of the school each time they use the sports hall for assemblies or, as the case is today, exams!

Could set the cat amongst the pigeons and refiuse to carry the speakers until the required training has been provided - ditto for the cabs too

So.. you can stand on a table without having to be trained, but using the correct equipment requires training before use? :P

    Re: Overtime?

Returning quietly to the original post!!
I now have committment to be paid 'whatever hours you work' and there will be no-one there to check - this means they trust me.....YAAAAYYY!!

(but still at my standard rate..GRRRR)

And I am only 5ft 7ins tall, and certainly not 16 stone. I do have very strong core muscles (oh SHUT UP) and lateral abdominals, but am not short and stocky. Not blonde either (see Avatar for hair colour)
I am going to mention the manual handling course to my boss.
Even though it will cause great hilarity - honestly, you lot [-X
