but then you'd run over a cyclist

throwing the chair was abit much I think, and yes could be considered assault. But more to the point I think it's damaging property which isn't her own. I could be wrong, isn't that vandalism?

    I wouldn't run over a cyclist - I love them!

Maybe she did commit an offence by throwing a chair. But surely this bloke also carried out vandilism by damaging property that doesn't belong to him - namely the company and its good customer base.

I'm having trouble working out what he was actually charged with. The article mentions: "Shannon, who was prosecuted under the miscellaneous provisions in the Public Order Act, could have been jailed for up to six months. "

So this was a Public Order offence? Incitement to violence? I'm assuming he wasn't stuffing lettuce up his nose as an everyday pasttime, so (as I understand it):

    Woman walks into Subway
    Recognises lettuce stuffer from youtube
Is instantly sufficiently enraged she feels justified throwing a chair at him.

Why aren't we hearing more about the idiot woman who assaults people?

(no, I don't agree with his lettuce stuffing, but if it's illegal to stuff lettuce up your nose, only criminals with have lettuce up their noses).

Edit: Offence he was actually charged with: Walsall magistrates warned him he could face time in jail after hearing him plead guilty to contaminating or interfering with goods with intent to cause economic loss and alarm, anxiety or injury to the public. http://www.expressandstar.com/2009/0...ttuce-in-nose/

300 hours of unpaid work as the punishment? That's over a month, working on the presumption he works 8 hours per day! Why would Subway still want to employ someone like that? He should of been given community work and enrolled on a food hygiene course.
shouldn't of done what ? Put the lettuce up his nose or work in subway ?

and what of the woman who hurled a chair at him......does throwing a chair at someone not merit a custodial sentence ?
