    There's only 1 thing worse...

... than being off for a week with a bronchial infection.

Coming back after being off work for a week

Already, I've sorted out a printer jam (actually needed the toner replacing!); a toner change bodge on another printer (just how did they manage to get so much yellow toner over everything); a laptop with a Sony Memory Stick card jammed in the SD card slot; several password resets and a host of other problems. Never mind the backlog of my work. My hayfever has just started and I'm seriously lacking motivation!

Hey ho! Better get on with writing the list of what I have to get done, I suppose...

If you have bronchial / asthma issues should you be dealing with toner?

I'm sorry to hear that you've been off for a week and I believe tech_guy is right!

I'd love to wriggle out of it. But the wheezing has subsided since last week (thank heavens... I haven't felt that ill in ages) and all I'm left with if sore eyes and a runny nose from Hayfever (tree pollen it starts end of Feb and finishes by May). I've left cleaning the ICT Suite to our cleaners (although they must have been igoring this yellow dust storm last week) - they are sorting that out as I type... I'm not letting them loose on the innards of the printer though!

Yes, toner can not only aggravate asthma it can trigger it - there was a study that showed that if you were exposed to toner etc for a year you could develop asthma or allergies that will stay with you for life.
When I was 25 I was in a room with a big old printer rumbling away - and I developed asthma which I still have.

They say that about smoking... which means printing is almost as bad as smoking... which means all toner / printers should come with pictures showing toner filled lungs and people who can't breathe?

Or am I thinking to much into this?

No, no you on the right path with this. What we now need to see are pictures of beagles snorting toner out of Lexmarks.......

    Oh ha ha ha

I'm another late asthmatic allegedly brought on by toner

And anyway, smoking doesn't give you asthma, it gives you emphysema (sounds similar, different spelling, you see?)

Fortunately I'm not asthmatic... just had an infection.

Feeling a lot better this afternoon. My husband has just been told that he won't be made redundant at the end of March as expected. What with that and the sunshine, my spirits have been boosted considerably. Feeling very happy and even the chaos at school feels better now.

Asthma is usually induced due to allergies. Mine was triggered when I was seven whilst on holiday. Been a few decades and to be honest I ignore it medicate when needs be and play a lot of sport
