We've got a teacher at exactly the same stage, she bought her scan in the other day and I broke all my rules and scanned it and printed her copies off for the family! (She also said that she'd been told the original scan fades after time so she's got the scanned scan now as well just in case)

As a proud father of 2 we agreed on both ocassions to wait until the 12 week mark when it was safer to assume the pregnancy was going to last. I think my girlfriend lasted about a week before she blabbed!

1st May 2009, 09:47 AM #33 Congrats matey! We just hit the 12 week marker on Tuesday too..
It is gruelling, isn't it. We had bleeding at 8 weeks (after losing twins at that point last time), and it's been fortnightly scans since that show a bleed that was above (and is now below and shrinking, thank god) the sprog.
So we're taking it one day at a time, Jem's laying up as much as poss and I'm doing all the housework etc, and she's got EVIL morning nausea that lasts all day. The car contains a puke-bowl, and even the smell of gas sets her off, so I've had to crash learn cooking etc.
We told immediate family (parents only) at 6 weeks, now it's 12 weeks, it's public.
Still not allowing myself to get excited, but I'm also trying to plan "unoffically", as I can't help it..

1st May 2009, 10:25 AM #34 @Sirbendy congrats!
The teacher at school has just started to feel better and less sick at 14 weeks, Jem will probably start to feel less sick over the next few weeks, no reason for her to lie down less though!

1st May 2009, 10:31 AM #35 Thanks all... it really has been quite exciting and everyone is soooo keen to point out that it gets "better" as time goes on
I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of us SB... and yes, the whole not getting too excited thing is a nightmare but virtually impossible... Somehow people messing things up at work can help in a weird, depressingly familiar kind of way

1st May 2009, 10:40 AM #36 tell me about it..
I'm coming to work for a rest. Add to that my car got written off last monday so I've had to source another ASAP, and I need the long weekend to lie in the garden and just wind right back down.
Here's hoping the sickness does go soon..she's SO fed up of it, not being able to eat her favourite food etc, being reliant on me for everything, not being able to walk far/do much.
We'll look back and laugh, I'm sure.

I have to remind myself that she's the one feeling cr*ppy most of the time and that I just have to listen to her complaining about it but there's times I want to run screaming for the hills... Perhaps this is practice for when the wee darling arrives..

Heh heh... Yes, doubtless it will sound a little hysterical too

Keep on reminding yourself that she is the one with an 'alien' taking her over - which is a very odd feeling in itself, trust me, and she CAN'T run away from it even if she wanted to.
She knows that there is only one way to get this thing out, and believe me, that isn't such a great thought!!
Just hang on to the fact that you love her, and it, and she loves you, and it and everything will be OK.

It is stressful for Dad too, I know. But it's hard, especially towards the end of the 9 months, when all you want is your body back!
Congrats to you both!

Do what I do. Go out, get in car, shut door, vent, get out and smile.
