Thought you may be interested to know sometime in April BECTA are going to release a new version of FITS (1.5) with plans already under way for version 2 .
A few of the things coming are..
- It will have some new modules.
- A slim lining of the implementation process as one of things at moment it can seem overly complicated.
- A new push to get schools & LA to take it on board
- A push both to technical staff as well as heads & SLTS
As said these are just a few things coming and going to big drive in marketing FITS.

This is something I have been looking at for a while and was hoping to start next term. Is their any scope in starting using the old framework then moving across to the new 1.5 or does a lot of the modules not overlap?

Not seen new version yet but old one is fine to start using Version 1.0 (current one) as the new modules cover extra stuff not in original FITS.

I've had a sneak peek at some of the new training materials and they are looking good.
