My school currently uses the BlackCat suite. We find certain components unreliable - particularly Paw Prints which too often unexpectedly closes mid use. Do other users suffer this problem or might it be something in our set up? Looking at alternatives I see Textease Studio CT, what's the collective opinion please on the value and reliability of that suite. :?:

One one my schools uses Decisions3 which runs fine with no issues. How are you installing the suite? Locally or via a network share?

When the latest version arrived it came with instructions to carry out a complete uninstall. We did this then after a fair bit of difficulty deployed by MSI from the server. Some workstations with all users are stable. Others take exception to some students and the only way I have found to resolve the conflict is to remove all Black Cat referenced data from the users directory in the servers shared drive. Others find it's running OK but suddenly takes exception to a series of keystrokes and dumps out. Grh!

The facts
Sometimes when I return to one of my schools 5 or 6 machines (which are all identically ghosted BTW) will not run Paw Prints.
I re-image them and they work.
Several weeks later I am told 5 or 6 machines won't run Paw Prints.
They are usually different machines.
My Opinion
BlackCat Super Tools suite of programs are the biggest load of ..... I've ever come across and I beg my ICT Co-ords not to buy it.
They are milking the ELC money Cow for all its worth
regards
Simon
