Exclamation How does your school interact with International Schools ?

One of our teachers would like me to unblock FaceBook so staff and students can join faceBook international school groups for part of the international schools process, I really don't want to unblock faceBook and was wondering if any other schools do anything similar or know of a way round this ?

I would be very careful about allowing facebook access for students. There terms and conditions state
    Eligibility
You may not use the Facebook Service if you are under 13. If you are between the ages of 13 and 17, we strongly suggest that you seek parental consent to use the Facebook Service. If you are required to register as a sex offender in any jurisdiction, you may not use the Facebook Service.
But you only have to look at this article to see what could happen

BBC NEWS | England | London | Girls suspended for teacher jibes

We block it during school hours but have it open for staff before and after school.

Total Block.. the benefits do not outweigh the potential for all sorts of problems and all manner of goings on that can happen on there. Best to leave it as an out of school thing to avoid any comeback on yourself and the school.....

Their own homepage in Moodle or similar? Even a Wiki might be appropriate.

Its bad enough the staff using their school provided laptops for Facebook at home never mind at school.

Full block for staff and students here - put in place by the LA.
