    23 + 8 Stat days = 31
I was querying if he got 23 days in total, inc his Bank Holidays, not in addition to them.

I've no objection to anyone taking a break at Xmas, nor am I trying to change it - i don't like having it imposed on me. If I were given the option, I'd work.

My wife is a nurse, she works Xmas Day, Boxing Day and every Bank Holiday so it's not even as if I can share them with her when I am forced to take them as annual leave.

    Sounds like a good scheme.

I used to do this, half an hour extra each day and an hour on the Friday meaning a total of three hours per week. This, in addition to my standard holiday entitlement meant I only had to work 2 weeks through the summer and a total of 4 days in any other school holidays.

Worked really well and used to love being (pretty much) term time whilst not losing any pay. Shame I hated the school and had to leave.

    I get 23 days + Bank Holidays.
I suggested working overtime but it wasn't met favourably.

Something similar but can be used in this case. At christmas when you have to take holidays, i dont. I work from home remotely doing whatever. That way school can stay closed and you dont loose holiday.

It works well for us and lets face it you probably work that hour unpaid anyway so should be no change in routine.

    Our contracted hours are 0800 - 1600hrs Mon-Thu and 0830 - 1530 on Fri.
By making Friday an 8 till 4 day gives us the hour to bank for Xmas. Anything over the 24 hours is used in the other holidays as an early knock off if we need it.
