    I'd also like to add:

    My teenage children

whose bedroom tidying and memory functions seem vastly inferior to mine than when I was their age

    EDIT

Memory functions fail except when it comes to food

    EDIT AGAIN
Husband says my memory and room tidying function is pretty similar... hmmm... whose side is he on?

I used to believe this but it's old age/the passage of years causing you to forget the details, and the fact that as a teenager you just don't appreciate the trail of destruction you leave in your wake.

I must give a vote of sorts for KASPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY 2009 - I've never had a problem with Kaspersky products before, but two of my XP Pro boxes at home keep frequently experiencing corrupted databases and yet another Vista box runs it okay with no issues at all.

I personally don't agree. If you have any particular issues with Sophos you're better off putting them in writing and forwarding them to support@sophos.com for discussion. However you welcome to constantly bemoan on here.

We really do welcome any feedback; though constructive feedback is always better.

On another note I'm glad to see the children enjoying the snow at your school. We enjoyed the snow today too..

We get Sophos through our LEA. I'm struggling to get the Management Console to work. Will you provide me with direct support via that email address because I've given up waiting for help from elsewhere. I think I read somewhere that it will soon not be possible to update clients directly on-line, in which case I need to fix it pdq.

Having previously used McAfee, I like Sophos.

Yes. If you have a problem either call us or email. Just mention that you get your software via your LEA

    Phone from the UK: 0844 767 4670 (0844 SOPHOS-0)

    Email web form: https://secure.sophos.com/support/query/

We provide a webCID so remote clients can update while they are off the main network. Our best practice to update clients (for speed, version control and bandwidth issues) suggests you use EM Library to download the required packages to a central share and then use the Enterprise Console to push out the initial install and tell clients if the updating location has changed.

There are no plans to stop the webCID as it's used by a lot of our customers - we are stopping updating of Windows 95/98/Me/NT via the webCID though. However on a large network you should look at it as a backup or for laptops.

Well its not just me offering the 'constructive feedback' Mr Support - it seems more and more schools are dumping your product because of various reasons and going down a different route.
Over the last 18 to 24 months on this fourm people have posted their gripes - in fact at one stage there was a thread dedicated [ which I started ] for people to have a say on what they thought of your very product. There were many posts on it and there have been many posts on other threads about Sophos stating what they find wrong or what could be done better.
Has anything been done about it ? Errrrrrrr not that I can see Mr Support.
Now, maybe you were not around then, maybe you were not around when I spoke to at length a representaive from Sophos on the phone about the issues I had - [ about 2 years ago ] - was anything done then ? Was my E-mail replied to which had a breakdown of what other people [ Edugeek members ] thought of your product - again the answer was NO. Nothing was done, not a sausage, bugger all to put it blankly.
Then you wonder why I constantly belittle Sophos ? I think I have explained my reasons why. [ Stress the MY ]
I hope you managed to get Graham Clueless with a few snowballs !!

Bl**dy Windows Mobile phones that our 'IT' manager insists we have as Blackberries are just 'fashion objects'

What's the point of having a phone that's battery doesn't last a whole day and then either refuses to ring or crashes when somebody calls you??! Arggghhhh...

    Now where's my 6310..

I'd say trains, always slow, late, cancelled and over priced. Also escalators and lifts which are out of order half the time.

    Spellign!

Failing that, most hardware is FAR more reliable than it was even ten years ago, never mind twenty. Cars are much more reliable; you seldom see rust-buckets belching black smoke anymore (OK, those of you in poorer city centres may see more of those).

Software would seem to suffer from unreliability. However, this is probably in many cases due to interactions between different software on the PC, that the programmer cannot predict.

Poorly designed educational software that is a pig to install and a pig to make work correctly without doing all sorts of changes to things.
Or should it be the people who design it?
