It's like an audio cassette, nope - erm, A DVD that's not a DVD but with the movie is stored on tape!?!

Got, It! Do you use back up tapes? yep? One of those but 1,000,000 times bigger (physical size not storage capacity). You use it to store DVD's on.

Hey, any else here old enough like me to remember [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betamax"]Betamax[/ame]?

My first film purchase after buying a Sony Betamax machine was Monthy Python's the Holy Grail. Bleeding brilliant but I think that back then in the early eighties it cost £70 which was an arm and a leg for me.

    Yes........

We were a VHS house, but my grandad swore by his Betamax, I think he only stopped using it when it was impossible to get more tapes for it. IIRC betamax was actually better than VHS...........

If it’s a small screen then you’re talking about 10kv to 15kv and around 25kv in the larger screens so it doesn’t do to go messing with it. One thing to consider with VHS players is that if it’s chewed a tape once then it will chew other tapes. Better dump it and buy a new unit while you still can.
