I set us up with Recycool here - Recycool - Recycling mobile phones and printer cartridges with schools for cash

They'll send you some free collection boxes etc and pay a reasonable (although small) sum for all refillable carts/toners, don't complain if you accidentally drop in a few non refillables. Payment is by BACS direct to the school now I think..

With recycool as well, not had any money out of them (only because we send about 2 loads a year so I think, account info says £13.41 since Feb 08 to give you an idea) but it is nice to know that the cartridges are being dealt with rather than dumped more than anything.

We have a charity that comes and collects them.

Someone here made a mistake this week and sent about £500 of brand new toners along with the empties that we're trying to get back

We use these guys here for our toner recycling.

All packaging is sent and collected from the school for free.

We don't get any money for the recycling but we are part of the NSPCC Programme which means the charity gets a small donation think its about £1.50 on average for each toner we send back.

Have been doing it for over a year now and have even managed to get staff and students to bring in their old toner and cartridges to send back too.

The problem I'm having is finding anyone who'll take Xerox-branded HP toner carts. More than "a few", unfortunately .

Do they still take toner carts from schools? (There's a page saying that they're not doing toner after Dec '08). How fussy are they about brands?

Hmmm have just seen that too will call them up and see whats what. With regards to toner brands I have never had a complaint from them although I do remember something about Epson cartridegs not being accepted.

Other than they they have been sent toner from HP, Canon, Samsung and OKI and have never had a complaint from them.

Not sure whether you guys are still having trouble with recycling empty printer cartridges but the OfficeXpress scheme is free, it takes compatable cartridges and anyone can use it.

It's proved really popular on the forum.
