Will they remember you
In an interview for G2 comic actor, Chris Langham, ponders why his line of work appears to attract such a unusual number of addictive personalities. Show business, it seemed to him, offers "one of the most powerful and headiest narcotics on the market -- it's called approval". Compare this to other professions, suggested Langham. " My accountant does not, when he's on the street, have people come up to him and say, 'You don't know me, but I loved your audit'
Makes you wonder what it will be like in years to come for us edu geeks. Will we have strangers approcahing us in the street. "You don't remember me but I want to thank you. Because of the rigorous way you policed internet access, I was able to focus on my studies. and look at me now! I am a middling corporate accountant."

...or more likely, as you wake up in hospital, "You don't remember me, but I was the pupil in 9N viewing 'inappropriate sites' during English, and you were the person who disabled my account and sent a printout of a screen grab to my parents, saying you wouldn't re-enable it until they got in touch with the school. I got a right telling off. It's payback time." and the rest, as they say, is history.
Will Tony be offering self defence courses for put upon IT staff I wonder?

On 2 occasions I have found myself in a late night take out prior to grabbing a taxi home to find myself tapped on the shoulder by youths declaring that they knew me when I was their network amanger whne they were pupils at the school. Considering I haven't worked there in 3 years now and they are alot older than I rememeber them. I have to fake conversation. Still, it was nice to be considered as a better guy than my replacement!!
