Don't be too put off, phone them - Mine says no, but i've already got it - not the 50mb, but 20mb - and it says the alternative to the 50mb is up to 16 through a phone line - not me, got it coming straight in from the fibre link at the top of the road.
Phone them and check, i will be doing.

If it is not traffic manged then how are Virgin going to pay for all this bandwidth, someone running at 50Mbit 24/7 is going to be shifting terabytes surely?

The Upload is also very poor.

Its only non-managed for the short time until they have rolled it out to more:

Berkett said that to begin with the "premium" 50Mbit/s service will not be traffic managed. Virgin Media throttles the bandwidth available to heavy users on its other broadband packages at peak times. Berkett added that restrictions will be introduced around the same time the rollout is complete, however.

With of bit of luck this could speed up the 20Mbit/s connections as all the heavy users move to 20meg.

    Not available yet here.

But then I am on 2mb at the moment and that seems adequate for me.
